Beginner Obedience

During beginner training we cover the basic commands of

  • come
  • sit
  • down
  • stay
  • loose leash walking
  • settle
  • leave it

In training we also address common non-remedial issues of jumping, leash pulling, rushing doors or stairs, and polite manners. Dogs are encouraged to learn when to bark and when to hush, how to wait politely for food, accept treats from the hand gently, and to keep paws on the floor unless asked otherwise.

Dogs who seem inclined and learn quickly may also learn to shake, roll over, or stand on back legs on cue.

Puppy training includes all of beginner obedience and also addresses socialization, nutrition, grooming acceptance, crate training, and potty training. We encourage families who need help with potty training to consider a 21-day training program. Potty training is a habit that takes time to learn. We can establish a firm foundation for a puppy in 14 days, but most puppies need at least 3 weeks to really understand the concepts.
